Sony has unveiled the new a7r3 (a7RIII) mirrorless camera at an event in China October 25, 2017. The new camera features improvements on the previous a7R2 and some of the features found in the recently released Sony a9.
To summarize some of the new features, here is what the new Sony a7RIII is serving up over its predecessor:
- Faster autofocus
- Up to 10fps shooting
- Faster imaging sensor
- S-Log 3 4K video and up to 120fps slow motion video in HD 1080P
- Micro USB and USB-C charging ports
- Dual SD card slots
- Extended battery life (we'll see about this...)
Sony appears to be stepping up to the plate here as they continue to improve their mirrorless camera options. At a price point in the $3000-$4000 depending on which currency you are in the R3 is substantially less expensive than the a9. Currently for me the a9 would be a great sports camera, however the a7R3 will likely be the camera of choice for the time being.
