Torchlight Brewing Nelson

Nelson is a beer town through and through. The ubiquitous not-so-craft Kokanee Brewing began in nearby Creston by touting the Kokanee Glacier as its water source. Nelson Brewing Company was one of the province’s original “craft” breweries at a time when nobody even referred to small breweries with that term.

In the years since the craft beer explosion, Torchlight has cemented itself as a local favourite and a regional player in BC.

Originally located in a space fit for a vacuum repair shop, the rise of the local craft appetite has taken them down the street to a more hospitable location near the train tracks and Nelson’s family friendly Prestige Inn. Hard work pays off, and with recent addition Backroad Brewing entering the fray and Nelson Brewing finally embracing the craft taproom movement, Torchlight seems poised for success as the town’s craft beer star continues to rise.

Known for their Noctis saison, various stouts and their Blondes on Stereo this is a brewery you’ll want to stop at after the 8-10 hour drive from Vancouver. They now offer a variety of snacks to compliment the beers, but not necessarily your waistline.
